Imagine my surprise!

I got to do a moment of protest photography today. I went out for my daily walk and encountered this little march. I never see political marches in my part of town; I was completely surprised. They were on their way from our neighborhood to the big march downtown. Note the people in Black Bloc at the end of this small group, far right. They are a few of our brave local Antifa. They serve as medics, they provide security, watching the backs of the marchers. They are caring, disciplined, and trustworthy. When they are around, we can relax. We are in safe hands. Our President thinks they're terrorists. He thinks the Ku Klux Klan is "some very fine people." I feel I'm in some alternate universe.

Tonight, again, over 10,000 people showed up. Not practicing social distance. At least 9,900 were utterly peaceful, and 100 were full of furious energy. The police were out in riot gear, shooting flash bang grenades and tear gas. I know because I watched several Livestreams for as long as I could.

As an Extra: something merely beautiful. A rose in the sunshine.
