Champion Trees trail

Today Rob and I ventured into the Lakes for the first time this spring to visit the Champion Trees trail in Skelghyll Woods at the Stagshaw Gardens.
The NT had taken down the brown sign! So we drove past twice before finding the little car park. There was only one other car and we saw no one as we wandered around. The enormous trees are quite splendid, so tall and timeless. Perfect weather too, just lovely in the shade and great clear views of the Langdale Pikes and Coniston (see extra).
Pepper had a lovely time too, although I blame her for leading us away from the exit!
A truly beautiful place if you’re looking for somewhere quiet to visit.
