A gathering of ....
wonderful women from up on the North shore! This vibrant group of women have known each other a long time...and most of them are from away, if not all them! They are very creative bunch....writers, actors, leatherworkers, and not to be outdone....4 potters (including me)....actually only 3 of us live here, 1 potter was visiting from B.C. (she happens to be the mother of 1 of the potters too!)
We all gathered at Susan's place for a 'walk'....before lunch! Ha, a 'walk'....it was more like a mountain scaling expedition!!! Being of the sedentary type right now....ie not much exercise....it was pretty hard going for me...and some of the others i might add! There was a lot of huffing and puffing...and of course many moments spent looking at the spectacular views! It was wonderful....going back down the trial was exciting too! One of the women had suggested to me that whilst traversing the downhill route, it's often a good idea to use a tree to kinda break your forward momentum! but she also mentioned that it would be a good idea to make sure the tree wasn't dead! A no brainer thought i! not more than 5 minutes later,
i reached to my side to brace myself, and put my hand out onto a tree close by.....next thing i know the tree is keeling over....timber i yelled!!! luckily i wasn't moving fast nor was i leaning too heavily on this dead tree! we had a good laugh at that!
Then onto the Dancing Moose, a charming little place just up the road from Susan's house. Owned and operated by a Dutch couple, who are open short hours in the winter! I'm amazed that they are finding enough business, cos it's a pretty spartan part of the country! Hopefully they are building up a loyal clientele for the rest of the year. It was totally delicious! I had their popular dish....a crepe like basis (pannekoek...thanks again Loreto), cooked with gruyere cheese, mushrooms and salsa! it was divine! just found out it was gouda cheese...thanks Loreto...
Now i'm ready for a wee nap!
