Visit to Waypoint Park

Today Shelly and I went over to where Helena lives and met her outside her building so we could give her a Qwixx game and take a socially distant walk together. She lives in downtown Bellingham, not far from Waypoint Park. So we walked there together. We passed the bike park (see extra) and went down to the big round tank. This park is on the site of the old Georgia Pacific paper mill. There were a number of these old tanks on site in 2005 when I first toured the site. GP sold the property to the city of Bellingham in exchange for the city handling the clean up operations there. It took a long time to tear down most of the buildings and to clean up the environmental mess. Also it took time to decide what to do with the site. Eventually it will have many new buildings but now it is just a park with one building restored and ready for use, It's a nice park.
