Another busy morning with people out enjoying the early morning sunshine but still few cars on the road.

I'm a devil for punishment and today the Bentley took another step back because I decided to respray the whole skuttle as opposed to doing a patch up job. So I rubbed down what I've done so far masked it off and spray the topcoat as it was so hot the paint dried quickly so that after lunch I could flat it back and spray the lacquer coat which will save remasking the car at a later time. Because of the heat the lacquer coat is a bit orange peely but when dries hard it will flat back well as I sprayed quite a thick coat.

In between and after the painting I continued with my detailed clean. Cleaning the offside of the engine polishing the offside bonnet and front wing I also fitted the bonnet handle. I like polishing cars and I don't think there is a better way to polish than using elbow grease. I think mechanical aids work to a degree but hand polishing is more rewarding. I used a mixture of G6 cutting compound and an excellent wash and wax polish that Ros bought me from Aldi ages ago. I am very pleased with the resultant finish. Its looking good. I also cleaned the offside front hub springs and front axle and started to remove some underseal over spray from the lower half of the engine. This was easily removed with a bit of heating oil on a rag. Tomorrow I will carry on down the offside tidying up the running board on the way.

The half round brass bar I ordered for fixing the upholstery to the Bentley finally arrive exactly two weeks after I ordered it. A week ago I got a telephone call from Gavin in Cardiff saying he'd been sent it by mistake. I phoned the Company and they said they'd sort it. As usual there was not the hint of an apology either on the phone or on the paperwork in the parcel. Still it's arrived and I can start some upholstery work next week.
