Lockdown Day 66 - Plane Spotting

I had a very quiet day at home today. NO agenda at all. I was tired from yesterday. Pottered around a bit. Spent most of the day in my garden.

I chatted on and off with a friend from the US - a work colleague who is also off work right now. He lives not far from Newark airport and usually the skies over him are filled with planes. Now the few that are still flying are going straight into Newark airport and not circling over his house and he doesn’t see them. So he was following the planes flying over MY house on the FlightRadar24 app. He would tell me exactly which flights were about to pass over and then I sent him a few pictures and a couple of videos of some of them. We were having fun and enjoying the benefits of technology!

Although Heathrow has a fraction of its normal air traffic right now, the few that are flying seem to ALWAYS be using this flight path for the arrivals. I know not everyone shares my opinion, but I LOVE the planes flying overhead! This is my industry after all, and I long for the day when aviation recovers from this mess that we’re in. I fear it will take a LONG time, and MANY are losing their jobs, more than are necessary in some cases.

I THINK this is BA 242 from Mexico City, a 787-9 Dreamliner, which landed at 3:13pm, 5 minutes after I took this picture.
