scythes

Today for some reason I ran out of energy, so sat on the bench watching D set up his scythes. He has two Austrian scythes and recently bought two new blade - grass and ditch - which he was affixing and adjusting. More  scythe info can be found here for those who are interested.

D won't be mowing the long grass until around the solstice, but all around us the fields were being cut today by farmers for silage and the tractors and trailers were rattling up and down. Since the weather is set fair for days to come, it's a sound we will  be hearing a lot of. Very different from the swish of a scythe.

The photo shows the Styria logo on the Austrian ditch blade. D says its an edelweiss.
