Virtual bell ringing

It sounds a bit of an absurdity and to some extent it is. Bells will not be able to be rung in the conventional way probably for the rest of this year so some creative people have come up with an alternative. The bells are rung on the computer on a shared platform and the ringers communicate via Zoom. Obviously there is no skill involved in handling the rope and the bell but we can practice the mathematical sequences involved in ringing methods. It was quite a good session but slightly hampered by the technical difficulties experienced by one or two of the less computer savvy ringers. Nevertheless, we got there in the end and it was a pleasant social event.
