Stranger On The Shore

My Dear Princess and Dear Fellows,

Today was such a nice day. Loulou came around at lunchtime, so we decided to take a long lunch break and go to the beach with her.

Paraparaumu beach is about an hour's walk from our house. I have threatened to do the walk on numerous occasions, but Caro has cocked a snook and then there was lockdown, so I hadn't done it yet.

Driving there however, is just ten minutes in Loulou's car. Given that people still aren't really out and about all that much, it was easy to find a park and then we walked along for about 45 minutes. It was a lovely, bright day, only made a little chilly from the wind. And we didn't care. There were loads of birds busily sticking their beaks into the sand. Loulou and Caro made friends with a little dog and we all enjoyed the clear view over to Kapiti Island. I was also very taken by the cute Little Library (see the extras).

Afterward, we stopped off for lattes and brownies and Caro plotted home improvements with Loulou. The pair of them are going to a huge Mitre 10* together on Friday so that Caro can buy paint and a strimmer and other housey essentials.

"It even has its own CAFE!" said Loulou.
"OoooOOOOOOoooh!" said Caro.

Worrying.

When I got back home, it was still lovely and sunny in the garden. I rolled around on the deck with Jasper. And then I took a call from the agent who recruited me for Kainga Ora.

"I'm so, so sorry," he said.

Uh-oh.

"It turns out you WON'T be starting on the 2nd June after all," he continued.

Shit.

"They wanted to know if you can start on the 8th instead."

Oh NO!

An ENFORCED JOBBYMOON!

Gutted.

"You jammy effing bastard," said Caro when she found out.

So it was a lovely day today. Let us hope for more days like this next week.
