On the way to Waiheke

This evening S and I drove to the Wynyard Quarter to catch the ferry to Waoheke Island, where we are staying for two nights. The Dog Eared Book Club is meeting on Waiheke tomorrow, and we chose to take this opportunity for a change in routine.

The ferry takes about an hour to travel from central Auckland to Waoheke. and during that hour the sun became lower and was almost below the horizon when we arrived. This picture is taken from the ferry as we neared the island. Maungakiekie (also known as One Tree Hill, although there is presently no tree at the summit) is on the left. The buildings of central Auckland are out of picture to the right.

This is the best of the many pictures I took. Do take a look at it large; it's worth it.
