Rhodies

We had a lovely FaceTime last night celebrating Mike’s 69th birthday. The plan before COVID was to be going somewhere special next year for his 70th but who knows now.

This rhododendron was bought when we wen5 to the Himalayan garden in Yorkshire with S and M a few years ago. I loved how the red lightened to pink as the bid opened fully in yellow.

I woke at 5am so we were out on our walk by 9 for a brisk 6 miles to the Alnwick road, Debdon,, Blue Mill, and home via the moor. Lots of mountain bikers had the same idea but they stop to chat to each other on opposite sides of the track - it would seem sensible to stay on the same side while still maintaining distance. They didn’t even acknowledge our presence while we had to do a detour through high heather. But if the government can make excuses for its advisor doing what he likes, it’s hardly surprising if the public follows suit.
