Green veined White Butterfly

We were both out before breakfast on this sunny blustery day.  We headed for the coastal path with the intention of seeing the hares I spotted the other day.  There were several skylarks singing as we approached the area and at the far end of the field we spotted our first hare just sitting alert in the field.  I had my binoculars with me this time so it was good to see it in more detail.  A few minutes later we spotted two smaller ones running round together before they disappeared into a  ditch.  We continued along the path then turned inland and spotted another two hares that we watched for some time as they chased each other around.  The wind was in our favour and they were oblivious of us watching, see extra.  A few yards down the path we then saw a Common Whitethroat in the tree above us.  Several of these Green veined butterflies were flitting around us so it was a very good wildlife walk.

Other than that I spent some time preparing the ground for the French beans on the allotment and planting out some beetroot and more cabbages.  Its been so windy and dry recently that the tomatoes and courgettes are not looking their best but hopefully will pick up over time.
