Bird Magnet
Twenty years ago we decided to install a garden pond and the spoil heap became the ideal place for a small waterfall. There is a pump that takes water from the main pond into a small (18 inch diameter) header basin filled with pebbles and small stones, whence it spills over and returns to the pond. That header pool has become a veritable bird magnet, especially at this time of the year when migrating birds are in need of refreshment - we have been treated to a good number of quite rare species over the seasons.
All gardens need a waterfall.
