Common bistort

I’d spotted these flowers a couple of days ago down by the busway. I wasn’t sure what they were so went back this afternoon and took some photos. As they had cut the grass I thought I’d missed the opportunity but there were still several tucked up by the hedge.

Consulted my field guides and so am pretty confident it’s common bistort.
