Moving with the Times!
For years I have looked at e-readers with a bit of disdain. For me reading is not just a pastime that tickles your sense of sight - reading also ignites all your other senses; the smell of the book, the feel between your fingers, the sound of the pages turning and if you have a refreshment while reading then it can also tickle your sense of taste. However, my mind has been well and truly changed since Christmas as nothing can beat the practicality of the Kindle. I can carry a fair number of books around with me all day. I like reading a novel at night time but during the day at the coalface, I prefer to read a short story which covers my 3 breaks. It really is a marvellous piece of technology. Now I am wondering how I ever got by without one!
I headed out for a run this morning in the bucketing rain at 5am. It was the first time in weeks that I have ran by myself as I've always had company. Love running with the pack but every now and again it does the soul good to do something by yourself. Normally I am keen as anything to go running but when I saw the weather I have to confess that I did have second thoughts . Glad that I did though because I managed 8 miles and best of all I managed to get under the 9 minute mile pace and came home in 8:47 min/mi. I was well chuffed with myself.
