Dear Diary,

A very different birthday this year from last years celebration with family and friends in Ireland.  This gift made by my dear friend who had accompanied me on that trip puts it all in perspective.  It is a beautiful fresh morning here and Louisa May and I will celebrate just being alive on the porch today.  90,000 other Americans aren't as lucky.  We will make the best of what we've been dealt and dream of happy birthdays in healthier times.
