Sycamore Idyll

I drove back to the hillside behind the tennis center with W. today. It was beautiful out, about 80 degrees/27 C, not as windy as yesterday but very pleasant in the grove with the picnic tables. The sycamore there has a giant trunk, which these two boys were playing around while their parents kicked a ball with a third boy and a little dog. A couple had strung a camping style hammock between two other trees and were happily not social distancing, and a few other twosomes and families were hanging around enjoying the sun, well spaced apart. W. had a good, strenuous run home, going the long way around to make 9 miles (it's just under 4 the direct way home). I sat a wrote for at least an hour, and when I looked up there was just a boy with his dad, climbing and jumping around on the rock outcrops.

After dinner I dropped some flowers and a birthday card off at Laura's, and serendipitously arrived just in time for socially distanced cake on the front porch.
