The Old Forge (Thursday 14th May 2020)
The other name for my Cotinus is Smoke Tree because of the effect of its blossom. This year it started smoking before I had even had a chance to blip its new leaves properly. When I saw that Ingeborg's Abstract Thursday challenge this week was on the theme of 'Foliage' it was a done deal before I had even taken the image. Nature had already done most of the abstraction using form, light and shadow so I just helped it along its way. The unadulterated image is here.
With thanks to Ingeborg for hosting.

Howlin' Wolf - How Many More Years? (recorded 14 May 1951, Sam Phillips' Memphis Recording Service [Sun Studios], Memphis TN, for Chess)
Howlin' Wolf (vcl, har), Ike Turner (pno), Willie Johnson (gtr), Willie Steele (dr)
Howlin' Wolf was discovered by Ike Turner, a talent scout as well as a pianist and bandleader, and this was recorded at his first session for Sam Phillips, when the other side of the record, Moanin' At Midnight, was also recorded, on this day in 1951.
Outside of the black community he was better recognised in the UK than in America, his popularity being reinstated by the Rolling Stones who had reached number one with his Little Red Rooster in 1963 and insisted on his being a part of their first US tour. Chris Barber had personally paid for the Wolf to visit Britain in 1964 and play concerts with his Band across the country, the first of several visits to Britain.
