Sheldrake of The Ouse
A 13 GRT tug boat built by Rowhedge Ironworks near Colchester for River Great Ouse Catchment Board in 1935. Now under private ownership. Powered by a 68hp 3 cylinder Allen Diesel engine (for the full geek experience see the link). She is moored at the junction Of the Ouse Relief Channel and the Ouse Cut Off Channel by Denver Sluice Complex. The Ouse Cut Off Channel is used to transport extra water (we have plenty of that around here) all the way to Essex which doesn't have so much apparently. If you've stuck with this bit of geekiness all the way you really should see the link.
