Natural Flourish

Like a typographical flourish, outstretched bleached branches catch the light against a canvas of dark green shade. Composed with their mirrored reflection, they form an arrow head pointing left.

I debated where in the frame to place the main subject and decided to leave space to the left so the arrow should point in. I feel this is at odds with western tradition of reading left to right, which creates tension in the image.

Later, I followed the antics of a small bird (extra) darting about high above me in the branches. Impossible to catch still, I rather like the movement in this shot.
