More Grannys Bonnets

Really gorgeous day again, but its been a hot one!

Slept ok, we were up early (for us!), shorts & tee on, fruity breakfast sat in the garden.

Our daily exercise was a walk into town ..... Hub went to get his paper, I called into the Food Warehouse for some tomatoes and a few other things, then met hub in the queue outside the bakery. About 8 all 2 metres apart, only one person allowed in the shop at a time.

We walked home, stopped to chat with one of
our neighbours out front for a little while.....we were saying how enjoyable the VE Day street party has been.

Got changed, shorter shorts and vest, too warm for sleeves & knee lengths, sun protection applied, then made coffee, took it out into the back garden, with our books and paper, passed a relaxing hour :-)

We came in for some lunch, grilled bacon & fried tomatoes with basil & chilli, on toast :-)
Has to be one of my favourite things :-)))

The afternoon was spent outside pottering, tied in more new growth on the clematis, Jackmaani which doesn't flower until August time, think its going to be spectacular this year, if the other earlier flowering ones are anything to go by. Our Nelly Moser on thr arbour is about to open, so many massive buds! Some watering, a bit of weeding, a bit of sweeping......amazing where the time goes! I got so hot I went and sat under the arbour for half an hour, with a bottle of beer and my camera.......I noticed the light so shot this lovely little aqualegia. It sits under our cottinus shrub, which we have shaped more like a small tree, hence the dappled sunlight.

We met up with our quiz neighbours at 7 via Zoom for the usual Golf Club quiz.....mediocre at best, 11 of 27. We chatted for half an hour or so, speculating about what Boris might say tomorrow, then we said our goodbyes and I went into the kitchen to finish dinner.

Prawn & peppered smoked salmon, with mushrooms and spinach, in a homemade chilli tomato sauce, topped with a sprinkle of parmesan......deeelish!! All washed down with a glass, or two, of chilled Villa Maria white wine, bearing in mind Id said no alcohol today after yesterdays street party.

It was after 9 tonight before I sat down indoors......we are both quite tanned, probably looking how we would have been had we been in Majorca as planned :-/

Happy Bank holiday #Stay safe, stay home
