VE Day Celebrations

Awake at 8, a fresh grapefruit for breakfast at 9, off out for a run at 10 :-)

Got to daughters in 45 mins, 5.5kms.....hub came in the car, arrived 15 minutes later ;-) The promise of a sausage & egg barm kept me going......it was a hard slog though, as I haven't been out running for two weeks :-/

I let myself in through their sidegate, granddaughter Emily waved, she was on her laptop, speaking with a friend......daughter was upstairs, so sat myself down on the decking and waited....Daughter nearly jumped out of her skin when she came into their kitchen dinner and I said Hi!!!

We had a lovely socially distanced catch up for a couple of hours......as you can see from two of the shots in the collage. I didnt notice Emily initially behind us on her trampoline haha!!!

Once we got back home we quickly walked round to Tesco Express to collect a few things for this afternoons picnic to mark VE Day.
Then it was on to decorate themgarden with some union jack flags and a we hung a large England flag from our bedroom window. I think all of the 10 houses in our drive had decorations out front which looked great.

We all congregated around 3.30 on our front garden or driveway.....with a bottle of beer. Two pics in the collage of hub and one of our neighbours and me in our back garden ;-) We all did 2 pop quizs, a 70s, then 80s music, we got a 3rd then 2nd place. Then a movie theme round....not that great and finally a picture quiz of childrens movies.... must do better lol!!!

I prepared us a little plate each for Afternoon Tea, sandwiches, crisps, peanuts, custard tart, scone with jam and we had a bottle of fizz :-)
Our neighbours also shared more fizz withmus.....and later we were,on the whisky! We came indoors just after 10pm......had a cup,of tea, watched Gogglebox and Graham Norton. Just having a nighhtcap now before bed......the last of our neighbours have literally just called it a day outside......its now 10 past midnight :-0

Hope you have sll had a great VE Day, we certainly have :-)
