VE Day 75th Celebrations.

Lockdown couldn’t dampen the spirit of the British and all over the country people celebrated in whatever way was appropriate for them.

We started off the day watching the 2 minutes silence and observed this at home watching Prince Charles. It was weird seeing the Mall in London empty. It should have been full of service men and women and their families .

After this is was time to set up our tent and get the food out for our ‘street party’ which as I type this is still going at full throttle.

At 3pm we stopped to listen to Winston Churchill delivering his victory speech. All very moving, as was listing to Vera Lynn singing We’ll Meet Again.

A day for reflection and remembering our fathers, mothers, aunts and uncles who served in the war. Our families were lucky and everyone returned safely for WW2 unlike so many families.

Good times.
