Green crab spider Diaea dorsata
I have been looking for one of these beauties for quite a while now, so I was absolutely delighted to find one at the edge of a woodland ride this morning.. Those who know me well will know there is nothing I like more than green insects and spiders!
This little lady ~6mm long can be found throughout most of England, especially so in the south and midlands.
Like all crab spiders it does not construct a web but instead lies in ambush to catch it's prey.
I have added a shot of a mating pair of Hairy shield bugs in my extra, because they have such a lovely soft bed in the seed head of a dandelion!
