I'm unable to identify this large fly that I spotted in the yard this morning. It held it's wings folded and tight against it's body. It's head resembles a housefly's but the rest of it's body doesn't fit. I realize that I sometimes get a bit 'obsessive' about identifying flora and fauna, guess that's the Science Teacher in me. Do take a look at my *extra...four Eastern Bluebird eggs sitting as pretty as can be in the nest box, the same nest box that held the Chickadees' family only a few weeks ago! I cleaned out the old nesting material and almost immediately the Bluebirds began their nest building. Life goes on! :)
