ABSTRACT THURSDAY

I remembered to look at the theme for Abstract Thursday, only to find there was none, so when Mr. HCB and I were sitting in the garden having our morning coffee, I thought I could do something with the little pink saxifrage that is in our strawberry pot.  I know that strawberries are supposed to be in there, but when our neighbour, Lynn, was getting rid of the pot, we had just ditched all our strawberries, so thought it would look good with some rockery plants - and it does.

We sat in the garden for quite a while and enjoyed the beauty all around us - well there’s no point in working hard in a garden and then not enjoying it, is there?  We then did some maintenance work on the roses and the honeysuckle bush, planted a few seeds and now we have come in, because would you believe it, it’s too hot in the garden to sit out there!  It is due to be very cold at the weekend and apparently will feel as if it is a different season, so perhaps that’s the time when I should power-wash the patio and surrounding paths.

We are really pleased because Mr. HCB found some little tadpoles in our pond - our neighbour on the other side, Rik, gave us some toad spawn a couple of weeks ago, so we are looking forward to having some toads in the garden.  Hopefully one or two toads might feature in a Blip!  Did you know that frog tadpoles are slimmer whereas toad tadpoles are chunky?  I didn’t either!  I also didn’t know that frog tadpoles gave a thin tail and are covered in gold flecks, while toad tadpoles are plain black in colour - every day’s a school day, so they say. 

I understand from Mr. HCB that the “stay at home” restrictions might be lifted soon, but sadly that does not include those in the "Three Score and Ten Club", so that’s us stymied - but actually, as long as we can go out for our daily walk, we feel fine about that.  I’m just sorry that Mr. HCB is missing his cricket this year - but there will be other years!

I have printed off a copy of yesterday’s Blip and intend taking it over to Michael in the next couple of days - our garden isn’t quite as pristine as his, but we’re happy with it.
