Another scorcher of a sunny day , chipped up with factor 25. Went out for a planned short ride along the lane with Susan who is getting used to riding her horse Mollie. Went early on Bank holiday in the hope it would be quiet ... ha! Plenty of real scary things ( enormous parked articulated lorry, tractor and trailer manoeuvring around the road to dump tonnes of soil, cows lining up for milking, very nice people building a new stone
wall ) and some imagined ones
( crocodile in bush, dragon behind tree). We each had to get off once to lead our scared nags past the really the scary arctic and cows , but hopped back on and carried on. Took 2 hours ! Def out of comfort zone but good to do it. I’m not a massive fan of riding on the road these days, too much fast traffic even on our tiny lanes , but most drivers do slow down and in ireland we always get to have a chat with someone, today it was over the hedge with Liam a farmer with 8 children , a really kind gentle soul - and his sheep were happy he was feeding them extra rations .
Tomorrow we are allowed to travel 5 km to exercise , we can go out in the horse box at long last to 2 of our favourite venues - just walk and trot , keeping it slow and safe. Hurray
Dinner included a gift of just dug turnips ( from neighbours poly tunnel) and recipe . Fried in butter and braised in stock . OMG maximum yum - all gone :0)
