Mary's Stile

This is Mary's Stile, just off the Shrigley Road in Killyleagh, it's at the entrance to Killowen Church. The church was built in the 15th century and fell into disuse in the 17th century, there's just 1 wall left of the church - I've added it as an extra, it was so disappointing to see the graffiti :-( . There is a poem about the stile, a sad poem that is the story of an Irish emigrant, Phelim Magennis, about to leave Ireland to go to America, but leaving his young wife Mary and his son who were buried in the graveyard.
On the way to the stile we could see lots of leaves from flag iris, they will be beautiful when they bloom, so we'll be back to see them.
