Eco meeting

This afternoon I was at a meeting of the Dunscore EcoCongregation Group. The venue was Auchenage Farm, home of Matt and Kath. Kath is a shepherd and they also have a small herd of cows, all of which have names and like to be stroked and talked to! A few years ago, Matt and Kath decided to put in a microhydro scheme, using the small burn which runs through the farm, and doing a lot of the labour themselves. The scheme now provides all their electricity and they export to the grid enough to power 20 more homes.
