An unexpected journey. .
Today has been a busy day..
I had to take Boris to a specialist vet in Brussels to have x rays on his hips and elbows to get a score ,which is then passed back to the breeder and Kennel club in Germany .
It was a requirement of sale, which I can thoroughly understand ,although we have never had to do it before-Boris is our 5th Airedale.
We started off with paperwork issues -German vs Belgian ,hopefully it will be accepted by them .
Boris then had to have a sedative and a muscle relaxant for while he was on the table .He looked rather confused and comical when he was staggering about :) .
I sat and waited whilst they took multiple x rays -he is so big that they struggled to get all of him in one shot..
His hips look fine -good news!
His elbows do not-bad news !
He sadly officially has elbow dysplasia ,although by the way he races around you would never know!
So here we are about to start and unexpected journey -to more and more vets .
It looks like he will have to have surgery to look at and clean out the joints before arthritis gets chance to take hold.
The up side is that it is early and such surgery should be benefical-although I have yet to see an orthopaedic vet..Fingers and toes are crossed!
So my blip of the day -a sleepy Boris ...
