Purple flowers

I'm not sure what this shrub/tree is, but it's just starting to flower in various gardens. The flowers are a really striking vibrant purple. But no scent to speak of.
It was pretty warm today and I had a fairly lazy day, with a local walk in my neighbourhood.
I had a nice video call with my brother and his family in their London garden, where it was at least as warm as here.
