Freedom Day
In honour of one of our favourite countries and favourite city (Lisbon), I’m using an old picture from October 2017, when we took the family with us to celebrate my 60th birthday.
On 25 April 1974 the fascist Government was overthrown by a peaceful military coup where soldiers had carnations poking out the barrels of their guns as they marched in the streets joined by civilians.
This iconic bridge previous to 1974 was called Salazar after their prime minister but then renamed in honour of the revolution date to 25 April. We’ve seen this bridge close up from both sides of the river and even had a car journey over it when we took a wrong turning on the motorway coming back from the Alentejo to the airport. It’s a magnificent bridge.
All going well we have said that the first place we fly to once restrictions are eased is to Lisbon, spend time there then head over to another of our favourite places , the Alentejo. Both places have a special place in our heart.
We had our weekly 4 way quiz night where laughs were a-plenty especially since Kevin fell down a manhole on Friday. He’s fine but so funny.
Weather continues to be amazing
