Battered

At three months, Arwen has just started to bat at objects and grab for things (usually my hair!).
There's not too much snow left here, but the roads and paths were like ice rinks as we went to school this morning. I almost went over a few times and the little lad next door was flat on his bottom within seconds of dashing out of the house.
So when we got back, whilst Arwen napped, I took our snow shovel to the grit bins and created a safe path all the way down to the main road, including a path across the roads which still hadn't been gritted by then. After I'd finished, I was on my way back across to cover the last bit of road when I went flat on my back with a thump. My upper back now aches as does my head which smacked hard off the ground. The irony of all this? Well apart from having just finished the gritting, as I lay on the road what should appear but the bleedin' gritter truck! This comes a few days after I spent half an hour clearing a path in the snow around the house only for it to get filled in again by an avalanche from the roof minutes later.
I'm beginning to feel like this chap.
Temperature risen slightly this evening so hopefully won't be as icy in the morning. It was chucking with rain though, and we got soaked on the short walk to the Messy Church after school club.
