The Edge of the Wold

Early rise

I have to get up very early now to see the sunrise colours. By this stage as we were descending the Knott, the earlier crimson had long disappeared, and sun was about to push through this burnt orange cloud.

The early rise was because we had a very early click and collect slot in Kendal.  It all went smoothly, no need to go into the supermarket and distant contact with the cheerful staff who were dispensing our order from a small truck in the car park.  It's strange that the 12 mile drive to Kendal that I used to do every day for work now feels like an expedition, though we were glad for the trip out.  And most of what we ordered was there, apart from bread flour which continues to be in short supply for home bakers.  Though we were given 3 bags of wholemeal buckwheat flour in substitution for the rye that C ordered, so it looks like a lot of pancakes this next few weeks!

Otherwise, another bright warm day, and good progress clearing the old compost bins at the back of the allotment.
