Bleeding Heart

Lockdown Day 22

What a change in weather we've had today - the temperature dropped to 8 degrees with a 25 mph hour north wind!  It woke me up about 4am and I could hear the wind howling and whistling around the window, and all I could think about was my three 'Bleeding Heart' plants!  I'd only commented to Alan yesterday,  how beautiful they were looking, and after I thought they'd died last year, I've been so happy to see them growing.   I couldn't get back to sleep but it was too early and dark to get up and go and move them, so I had visions of the decking being scattered with hearts when we got up.  Luckily, they're all fine :-)  Alan had to go and sort the fence out as it was bowing in the wind and he put some stakes in to support the plants.

After breakfast we set to on the cleaning and with a joint effort we were done in about an hour and a half, had lunch, and then Alan went out to carry on with his conversion.  I started to catch up with some of your journals and I'll try to get to the rest when I've finished writing mine, I had a FacetTime chat with Rachel and Violet, and soon after had a video chat with Ibby.

Three weeks have now passed since lockdown which was the intitial period, but the Government have said that it won't be lifted until 'we are firmly on the other side' of the peak, which is totally understandable.  They have a meeting with SAGE  (Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies) on Thursday to discuss whether to tighten or adjust the measures going forward.  After another 717 hospital recorded deaths today, I think they need to be tightened particularly as some people still don't seem to be taking it seriously - yesterday we saw two couples out for a walk together and my friend Louise had to report some of her neighbours to the Police for having a BBQ in which visitors arrived!

The good news is that in Italy and Spain they've begun to ease the lockdown  slightly in that certain businesses can begin to trade again.
