NaPoWriMo2020 Day 11

I used the poem called Loveliest of trees the cherry now... by A E Housman for a WhatsApp group I am running at the moment.  It's a lovely poem and I was rather intrigued by its structure - 3 verses each of two rhyming couplets with line length varying irregularly with 7 or 8 syllables in a line.  Seemed to be a bit of a challenge, so here you are:

Ode to the Cherry Tree - with apologies to A E Housman

The cherry trees so lovely now
as they spring into bloom and bow
to the ground warm with nature's beat
the blossom white in sunshine heat.

The flowers of spring show new life pure,
the sickness of winter's cured,
by gentle sweetness blossom lent
fill the air with freshness of scent.

Oh too brief that beauty will be
for the wind and the rain we see,
coming in April, the showers fall
And the cycle of life does call.
