Flying high

Hibernation day 20, lockdown 17, shieldbug 11
A much nicer day with no wind or rain so I literally spent the whole day outside.
Decided to tackle the bottom pit ready for planting. Our garden is on a big slope so Mike’s made several raised beds so that it is usable. We were given some top soil last year by one of the neighbours and David spent several hours moving it to the pit blue we did not have chance to do anything else with it till now. So I have been removing most of the stones which I have used in the bottom of some pots. I’ve raked it and it looks so much better. I cleaned the pots ready to plant the peas and beans. I planted some potatoes and beetroot and marigold seeds.
Lots of birds around today. The corvids, crows, jackdaws and rooks and all been collecting the horse hair from the field. The horses have been very friendly so maybe they’ll be a foal or two later in the year ;)
You can always hear the geese before you see them, this group flew right above my head and I could hear their wings flapping.
Caught sight of two yellow hammers in the tree, I’ve put some seed on the ground hoping they might come closer.
A red kite flew over with nesting material in it’s beak, mobbed by a crow , it pooed in mid flight.
Watched a long tailed tit tackle a large feather, there seem to be just the pair coming to the garden at the moment.
The strawberry plants have arrived so I will plant them tomorrow.
We all stood outside and clapped the key workers again.Thank you to all of them .
Boris is out of ICU.
