One of the chickens from the field next door took the opportunity of the gate being open for the scaffolders to come and see what tasty treats we had. She found quite a lot under the bird feeders and spent ages grubbing around under there. J and I sat and ate our lunch next to her while she largely ignored us. She did appreciate J's crusts, despite his concern that there were traces of egg left on them.

The scaffolding has finally gone. I spent quite a bit of time afterwards clearing up the patio. Those roofers were messy!

She later got bored with the adventure of the garden and came to have a look in the kitchen, much to the children's delight. Mine slightly less so. But she didn't make a mess and left quite happily when we shooed her out.
