Un-wanted & un-loved.
A really sad sight to see, this old guest house that is on the market, but no-one wants it. It has been there for about 100 years, and was a big part of the community. Locals got married there, their children were christened there, 21st birthday parties, then they ended up getting married there too. Christmas Parties were held there - when I was a kid, Father Christmas arrived by boat. Ho ho ho! We all knew who it was!
My mother made & decorated cakes, and she made numerous cakes for birthdays, weddings and anniversaries that ended up there.
Back then we all went there by boat, as not many people had cars, and the road was not good enough for to go from our place to there until the mid 1960's. A few adventurous souls had tractors and would travel on them along the tracks to get here.
The guests who came here, mostly came by boat. There is a beautiful golden, gravel beach. (not very common in this area) One of the best around.
In more recent times, if you had friends staying with you, and wanted a meal out, you could go here. But no more. All closed. Now I have to cook for the friends myself.
