My Favourite Little Bird

Lockdown Day 13

We went out for our usual walk this morning but took a slightly different route and covered 6 miles in total.  But had to double back on ourselves at one point as the route would have took us through a farm - There's a public right of way, but the farmer had put a sign on the gate asking people to avoid using it as it goes right through their farm and they're self isolating, produce milk etc.  Of course we understood and to be honest we wouldn't have liked to have come into close contact with anyone anyway.  We were very surprised however to see a family sat in his field cooking breakfast on a little calor gas stove!  Whilst we're allowed out for exercise, we're not supposed to be having picnics for godsake!

Anyway, we carried on with our walk, enjoyed seeing the lambs and listening to the birds, and I was so happy to see this little robin posing nicely for me in the sunlight.  On our way back we saw Lisa and Steve our old next door neighbours who we haven't seen for ages, so we had a chat but kept our distance standing more than 2 metres apart.

We we got home we had lunch sat on the terrace for the first time this year and then I spent the afternoon washing the garden furniture, cleaned all the decking and washed down the fencing as everywhere had turned very green due to all the rain we've had this winter.  It looks much better but it will need painting again.  While I was doing that, Alan was working on building the box for the electrics for his day van conversion.

Tonight I logged on to Elif's virtual Spring/Summer launch - she had planned her official launch for tonight, but as her boutique is temporarily closed she did it this way instead.  It's such a shame as everything in her boutique is now reduced by 50% but she's still smiling bless her, and doing what she can.

Today 708 people lost their lives to COVID-19 .  I heard from Ibby that the UAE have forced a complete 24 hour lockdown for the next two weeks, and it makes me wonder if that's what we'll have to do to control this situation.  Police are patrolling Brighton beach and moving people along if they're sat on the beach, but as long as people are exercising it's fine.  I do wonder if they'll actually close the beaches though as the weather gets warmer.

Hope everyone's staying safe and well x
