Sally Mair - Loving life

By Sallymair

Is this friendly enough?

These two are still more or less just about at tolerance level! They're fine so long as Pickle doesn't walk on Cleo's floor, or sit on her chair, or sit on my knee!! Most of the time they are absolutely fine then occasionally, like this, they look like they might actually settle down together.

Saturday again today, where do the days go? Today I made cardboard tubes to start my sweet pea seeds in, nice to find that there is a use for all those Amazon boxes. I planted up 18 tubes and they have joined the lettuce seeds on the kitchen window sill.
Next I went out into the garden and waged war on some ground elder. One of my patio pots which has a beautiful hosta in has somehow been invaded by the stuff. I took the pot apart, got rid of all the compost in it and then completely flushed the hosta crown with a powerful hose. I got in rather a mess but hopefully I've got most of the horrible stuff out. I replanted the hosta and now I'll just hope for the best. I did this before once with a rose which had some invasive weed through it, I took that back to a bare root too and it seemed to cope. Fingers crossed.
Having got myself soaking wet I thought that I might as well continue getting messy so cleared the junk corner of the patio of leaves, mud and other detritus, I also sorted all the plant pots by size and hosed it all down. I stood back to admire my work..... and.... it still looks a mess, ah well I'll have another go tomorrow!
I managed to get all of the garden waste I'd put together over the last week into the garden bin and that's it almost full. It was emptied for the last time on Wednesday, now, with no more garden collections for the foreseeable future we'll have to work out what to do with any more we produce. Hopefully having done a major weed and clear there shouldn't be so much again, but there will be ongoing grass cuttings of course.

Having been in India on Ash Wednesday, I still have last years palm crosses so I've tied them together and hung them in our window. At this rate I won't be able to see out of the windows at all for all the symbols displayed in them!

Tomorrow is Palm Sunday and the start of Holy Week, the week leading up to Easter. It's very strange not to be able to go to church, but needs must.

Keep well and safe everybody and stay indoors.
