Sally Mair - Loving life

Teddy bears and rainbows

I love both of these ideas, the rainbow for hope, and children going on a beat hunt when out for a walk. My rainbow is on order from the girls but hasn't yet arrived so I've made my own to keep me going, after all, we all need a sign of hope. My bear is a rather special one. I call her Gerry, she's a small handmade mohair bear from Geraldine's teddy bear shop which was in Edinburgh many years ago.
There are several rainbows and bears in the houses around here.
What did I do today? This morning I had a long chat on WhatsApp with a friend in India who I hadn't managed to see in February as they were away from home. It felt good to reconnect.
After planting the lettuce seeds yesterday, today it was the turn of the peas. I'd soaked them overnight having been told that helped them to germinate more quickly. I've put this first lot into a large pot and will put one of my bamboo pyramids in to support them once (if) they grow. Ali came round and dropped off some shopping for us, she'd been to Tesco for herself, for us, for Stuart's granny and for Katy so she'd earned the cup of take away coffee I made her. She bought me a lovely bunch of roses too as a bonus. It feels so strange to have her standing at the back of the driveway while I open the door and bring things in and leave the coffee on the step for her to pick up.
She sent me a link later on of her school staff. They'd put together a YouTube video for their pupils of all the staff in their different environments singing a silly song to mark the start of the Easter holidays and published it on the school twitter feed. I felt very proud of them all and grateful that in the midst of all this mess they had time to make the children laugh.
Katy and Jon have managed to arrange cover for most of next week for the girls. I do feel for the little ones having parents who are both working. Still they are both of this weekend so they'll be able to have some much needed family time.
Dinner was good, we are enjoying consuming some of the many bargains in my freezer. I've a habit of picking up nice things in Tesco and Waitrose when they have been reduced, and popping them into the freezer. We never normally get around to defrosting them so it's good discipline now, having to think ahead and plan. Lots of goodies in store.! Tonight's treat was a gammon joint in honey sauce from Waitrose. Excellent and enough left over for some sandwiches too.
Went for a walk after dinner, I'm quite enjoying walking in these light evenings and I'm sure it's good for my digestion.

Thank you for dropping in and for the kind stars and comments. Blip is really a tonic just now.
Keep safe everybody and stay inside.
