Knot On Track

No light today, cloudy and overcast, looked around in the wood which has been cleared recently and found a fallen tree with evidence of beetle damage under the bark from tracks they burrowed. It made an interesting pattern and the white knot added a nice point of interest to the image.

It took quite a bit of balancing to even out the exposure so the pattern and texture became more evident, as opposed to light and form. I wanted to bring out the texture further and tried increasing contrast and clarity, but it became too grungy (technical term), so I removed that.
