Roots

A busy day, what with having to cram in a walk, two video get togethers and everything else....

A first listen today to the Comsat Angels' second album "Sleep No More" (1981) on which my favourite track was Be Brave.

Today's painting is a strange one - four contrasting figures in Hans Baldung Grien's "The Three Stages of Life, with Death" (c1510.) At least that's what it is called in the book I am reading. The artist never gave it a title and interpretations, and therefore possible names, vary.  Options suggested over the centuries include "Allegory of Transience, Death and the Three Ages of Woman", "Allegory of the Vanity of All Worldly Things" and "Beauty and Death."

My own preference is for the one about Vanity, given the prominence of the mirror.
