Another Languedoc year...

The old school

Our house used to be a religious school. The boys that didn't come here went to this local school which was replaced by a boring modern building (designed by the mayor's son) a couple of years ago.

My niece and nephew started at this school as 8 and 10 year olds, without a word of french. Now, some eleven years later, they have finished school and college as fully bilingual, well integrated members of society. I used to envy them spending their days in this pretty school, fully immersed in the language whilst I struggled to learn piecemeal. Time has moved on. My french is quick and inaccurate. The school is unused for the moment. A bit of a pity don't you think?
