Imprisonment - Day 5

Imprisonment - Day five
Thursday 26th March 2020

A chilly frosty start with a beautiful blue sky and brilliant sunshine. While cycling I saw 12 vehicles one dog walker one cyclist a runner and no horses. Obviously after a few days people are getting fed up with exercise. Still I'll keep on pedalling.

There was a new molehill but nothing in any of the three traps so I moved them all around the new molehill. So the odds of catching one tomorrow is high but mole catchers must be patient. I'll get him sooner or later.

The greenhouse shuttering is coming on reasonable well. But progress was thwarted as the coach bolts which came yesterday are the right length but the thread is not long enough so I had to increase the length of the thread with a die. I had to do this for 48 bolts with 15 full turns of the die. This operation took just over an hour and a half . During the afternoon the on/off switch on my electric drill broke. I spent a wasted hour trying to fix it. In the end I gave up and chucked it in the bin. (They're not worth fixing in some respects as a cheap new one off eBay is only £17.90 delivered).

At the end of the day all the sides are now in place but only loosely bolted together as I'm waiting for some M10 coach bolts and penny washers to make some adjustable feet to raise the wooden supports off the ground to stop them rotting. I then need to make some bracing supports to reinforce the sides.

In the evening we Skyped Hayden to wish him a Happy Birthday. He'd had a warning from the police to stay at home as they caught him on the car park by the beach where they'd driven for a walk.

Later on I put the Bentley and the Aston Martin on a SORN. It's no good paying Road Fund Licence when you can't go anywhere.
