Ramblings from Zambia....

Disappointment...

Headed off to the airport this morning with emotions all over the place.  Got there and had the medical check (temperature and filling a form), through to the check in desk.  Chaos is all I can say.  I was there early so only about 6 people in front of me with two counters open.  Then an hour later  I was still in the same place and now the queue is much longer!  The two families at the head of the queue are moved to the side.  A family in front of me trying to get to UK via Joburg on British Airways had no problems - they went off.  I went to the counter and no joy.  My ticket was through Joburg to Dubai,  and London Heathrow.  The system was telling them that there was no flight from Dubai to London!   So, I was pushed to the side.  Eventually all the other travellers were through and a group of us were left.  After calling Emirates, the staff were told that the leg from Dubai to London had been cancelled.  So....I am back home in Lusaka and will be here for the foreseeable future!

I had given away all my food, so I went and stocked up, sat down with my coffee and a lovely bar of galaxy chocolate (which those from the UK will appreciate) and here we go...

I have had so many phone calls today from the UK, messages from all across the globe of encouragement and I am so thankful for each and every one of them!  Thank you to all of your for your prayers and words of encouragement too.  It was just not meant to be...

The sad thing is that when I went to the shops people are going about their normal business as if nothing is happening!

Stay safe everyone!
