Australia Day tomorrow and the butcher shop has for sale interesting cuts of meat, and a range of yummy sausages. for the big day's barbies.
I listened to a commentator on the radio this morning talk about the day Australia celebrates its day of days. As he said, rightly so, most countries celebrate their national day on the day colonialism ended, whereas here in Aus it is the day that the colonials landed. Whether the day will ever change who knows, but meat, beer, often extreme heat (35C forecast),having a tinnie (or ten) and fireworks are part of Australia Day.

In our local butchers there was bunting and flags a-plenty but my eye was taken by this painting of slabs of meat hanging in a cold room, painted by one of the butchers.
Pretty impressive, wielding a ferociously sharp knife and a delicate touch with a brush is quite a skill.
