Lock down
Each day this week, when I have gone out for an isolated walk, I have wondered when such exercise might be prohibited. Today's stroll, along the Rochdale Canal on a lovely early spring afternoon, was extra enjoyable because of that.
In other news, I made progress with the art history study, reading about three works. One was "The Little Garden of Paradise" by an unnamed Upper Rhenish master in c1410. The painting contains accurate representations of 20 identifiable species of plants and at least 10 species of birds. It is one of the earliest European paintings to focus on nature rather than just religion - although this picture has lots of Christian imagery too.
Today's new music was Nick Drake's 1970 album Bryter Later.
