Dinner.
Primary achievement today was to purchase a local SIM for my phone which has not been working since we arrived in India. Something I neglected to a) understand and b) action. Now it works. To be honest I only became a bit concerned about not having a working phone (Sue's blew up a couple of weeks ago) when Sue was unwell a couple of days ago and I realised I had no easy way of contacting help, or insurers. Also, one needs a working phone as of 10th of this month so as to be able to receive the secondary ID check codes for online banking etc, and of course for airline change messages!!!! Anyway, sorted now.
The phone, and a sit down coffee of dubious quality consumed most of the morning and the pool the afternoon. After sundowners, the challenge of finding food raised it's head. The problem here is that every restaurant has virtually the same menu, with only minor variations. We chose to return to Kelly's which is owned and run by, yes, you've guessed it, a bunch of Nepalese immigrants. Great guys and fun to interact with, but tonight's offerings were probably bad choices on our part.
I chose pork vindaloo. The vindaloo was fine but the pork was not. Too many bits recognisable as being from pig, but not the bits we would normally, knowingly, eat. To be fair, in response to my gentle criticism, there was no charge for that dish.
Sue chose Kingfish curry, and struggled a bit getting it off of the bone(s) and found the flesh to be too meaty in texture for her vegetarian / pescatarian palette. The fish being skewered for the Tandoor is a baby shark - someone else's dinner.
Sue's Pina colada went down well, whilst my Bloody Mary was not up to Canny Man's standard.
Last whole day in Goa tomorrow, so probably on the beach, and packing up.
Namaste.
